Lauren Valente

Lauren Valente credits the many after-school hours spent with her grandmother, “a fantastic seamstress and painter”, with inspiring her career direction. Describing her Connecticut childhood, she admits that digging through fabric boxes and drawing on any available surface filled much of her time, except, that is, when she “wasn’t outside and catching bugs”.

Encouraged by her parents, both energetic and committed school teachers, to follow her obvious path and study art, Lauren graduated in 2005 with a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design’s Textile department. During her senior year, an introduction to the Jacquard loom sealed her fate: “It amazed me. It was the link between my love of drawing and pattern making and my understanding of weave constructions and materials”.

Lauren joined POLLACK as a designer in 2005.
