Machine Age Velvet At Jack Geary Contemporary Gallery

Strolling along Varick street on the way to work today, we noticed giant pieces of Machine Age Velvet hanging at Jack Geary Contemporary, a spacious art gallery lined with windows only two blocks away from Pollack HQ...

As it turns out, the artist, Lina Puerta, got some materials for her artwork through Materials for the Arts, an organization that provides a way for companies (such as us!) as well as individuals to donate uneeded supplies to thousands of nonprofit organizations with arts programming and public schools, and chose Machine Age Velvet to include in one of her intricate works titled "Cascara (Peel)" within her exhibition Traces.

It's a complete coincidence that Lina's art, and our very own fabric, ended up two blocks away from our HQ in this great space. What a pleasant surprise!

Make sure to check out Lina Puerta's works, as well as a great review of this exhibit on Hyperallergic.

Thanks to Jack Geary of Jack Geary Contemporary.

Art In A Suitcase

Our fabrics are being used by an organization with a beautiful mission: to create opportunities for global understanding through art between schools in the United States and abroad. The children create art as a way to get to know one another and their cultures, with the intention of finding commonalities and acknowledging the strength in their differences.

These images come from Marvin Cabrera, head of the organization Art in a Suitcase in Bangladesh. Check out the images below where our fabrics are used within some of the pieces, or to frame the drawings... Pollack fabrics and construction paper make a good match!

For more on the organization, go to their website or check out their Facebook page.

Our fabulous Atlanta rep Jenny Perez spotted our fabrics Vintage Velvet in cocoa and Flow in tide at the Embassy Suites in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia. It's always great to see our fabrics out in the world. Thanks Jenny!

Happy October! This past weekend we came across a few of our fabrics inside of Boston's Marriott Long Wharf! Hmong Plush in cinnamon and Cabochon in amber were both used as pillows in the upstairs lobby. We love the use of this burnt orange hue combined with neutrals.
