My Easter weekend was spent in NYC enjoying amazing weather and taking in a number of art galleries and museums. The weekend started off meeting Leah and Justin from Pollack/Weitzner at Grand Central to see the Nick Cave performance piece. Cave is an incredibly talented fabric sculptor, dancer & performance artist. He is from JeffersonMissouri and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute & Cranbrook

Next, off to see various exhibitions at the Museum of Arts + DesignAmerican artist Michael Aschenbrenner creates glass sculptures inspired from his service in the Vietnam war when he broke his leg at 18 years of age. By chance, I own five pieces that are displayed in my guest room in Kansas City!

You can read more about this exhibition, Playing with Fire, here

Below is a wood cut birch plywood (57 layers) corner table by Netherlands artist Eron Verhoeven.

Three glass panels by American artist Peter Bynum

Amazing wood veneered textiles by Elisa Strozyk (Germany)

Justin, Leah and I also went to the Asian Pacific American Institution at NYU to see works by Roger Shimonura who is from my home town of Lawrence, Kansas. Shimonura is a retired professor of painting from The University of Kansas where I studied Textiles Design.

At the end of the day, this Easter bunny-eared dog had a group of us standing on the street taking pictures of him!

This morning, Brad surprised our marketing team with these cute mason jars complete with amazing removable leather handles!  They were filled with tasty gourmet jelly beans (a major bonus!). He found them at a great coffee shop, Kafka's Coffee & Tea in Vancouver, which he highly recommends!

Some of the very nice employees Brad met

L.A. Skin & Ink

These pictures from Brad just surfaced - although the exhibition is over, we still think it's pretty cool and worth sharing!

"The adventurous outside L.A. Pollack rep, Alexis Czyzewski, and I were on our way to an afternoon appointment when we passed the Los Angeles Craft and Folk Art Museum - fortunately we had 15 minutes to spare! The exhibition, L.A. Skin and Ink, covered 60 years of tattooing in Los Angeles. A popular part of the exhibition was for visitors to sit in a chair while an image was projected onto their arm to imagine (see the final picture!) I wonder if she made an appointment to get her arm tattooed?!" - Brad

My weekend between Decorex and a week of 16 sales calls was mostly spent walking a total of 14 hours around London. I was excited to see the gallery show, Vee Spears: The Birthday Party at the Little Black Book gallery in Chelsea! I purchased one of her images last year and it's hanging in my living room!

Sunday Snaps From London

Enjoy these Sunday Snaps sent to us from VP of sales Brad Bloom while in London two weeks for Decorex & sales calls:

Loved this show by NYC artist Ben Schonzeit at Plus One Gallery

Street fighter

Light display at Conran. The same lights danced when I took a video - very cool!

Calvin Klein models at Harrods. It was amusing watching shoppers try not to look at these guys! I went up and asked them a bunch of marketing questions - they had to stand there for four hours straight; four guys rotated the weekend job. They confirmed most people would not approach the stand but only stare from between the racks and little sales were made when they were working. A young girl & her boyfriend tried to enter the space when I was taking my photos and the guy on the right asked them to wait until I was done!
