Even when our designers are off-duty, they are often still immersing themselves in the industry of art and design. We're letting them tell you themselves about their weekend excursions, museum trips and their general creative musings during off-hours. First up, Rachel at Cooper Hewitt.

This past weekend I went to the Cooper Hewitt to see the show Color Moves: Art & Fashion by Sonia Delaunay. The show is featuring her fashion and textile designs from the 20’s and 30’s. I was really inspired by her use of color. It is hard to believe some of the designs and color combinations were created so long ago because they really look contemporary. I also love the use of geometry that she used in her garments and how the patterns relate to the shape of the body. It is impressive to see how prolific she was and to realize that everything was created and painted by hand. The amount of focus and diligence to get the colors and patterns just right is an inspiration. - Rachel
