"I finally had a chance to see the McQueen exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art! It was stunning and incredibly inspiring. His use of unexpected materials together and expert tailoring are beyond compare. His ideas brought to fruition in his garments and staging in his fashion shows just blow me away.I love this full billowing black dress (top row). There is amazingly detailed pleating at the neckline. The dress on the right is made of gold/green glass beads that melt into a horsehair skirt. It was beautiful to see the dense beads transition to the horsehair- just stunning. The kimono inspired dress on the left (above) has different colors of silk appliquéd to create the scene on the skirt. The silk of the skirt lays flat on the curves of the body without puckering from the applique. It proves what an expert tailor McQueen was. The dress on the right with gold feathers and tulle is just other wordly! Definitely worth the long lines at the Met."- Rachel Doriss
