The January 2012 introductions add nine new fabrics to Pure, our refined collection of elemental patterns, fibers and colors. Four are shown in this photograph: Silk Stream weaves silk, cotton and silk/wool yarns into a complex rhythm of organically drawn Jacquard stripes and a gently ridged surface. Wool Grille, an elegant and supple damask, features a heathered worsted wool in the grille area and a very fine linen in the ground. A uniquely beautiful and enticing novelty yarn - thick, soft and fleece-like - creates the extravagant surface of Woven Fleece as it brocades across the fabric’s width. The dense pile of Gorgeous transforms an incredibly fine cotton yarn into a totally unique velvet, smooth and seductively mysterious.

Two colors of a finely scaled chenille yarn define Circularity's pattern of closely spaced concentric circles. Tightly weaving across, and covering a very fine polyester warp, they depart from the typical ‘fuzzy’ notions of chenille and venture instead into the realm of smooth, velvet-like surfaces.

This collection offers a coordinated paisley group of three upholstery fabrics. In each, the familiar motif has been pared down to its essence, using only one or two colors, strong lines and unexpected scale - elements that confer a very modern sensibility on this classic design. In Pint Size Paisley, lustrous viscose and matte polyester yarns equally share in drawing this petite version, softened with a subtle linear ‘antique’ effect. The bold, curvaceous pattern of Paisley Power has the fine, pebbly effect of a crepe weave, while a wash of cotton, linen and polyester yarns counters with a random striae in the ground. In Pile on the Paisley, our passion for paisley turns to a dense cut and loop wool pile to draw this large scale version of the motif.

The drama of a deeply pleated surface, with its mysterious shadows, is made even more alluring in Pegasus, a metallic faux leather. The all-polyurethane face comes to life with lustrous highlights, and the additional backing that holds the pleating permanently in place contributes to the richly cushioned appeal of this pattern.

Snake Charmer, an all-recycled polyester fabric, is essentially a checkerboard created by the matte warp and lustrous filling yarns. Pure blocks of color form single and double chevrons in an organized snakeskin motif, softened by stippled squares of a finer weave. Woven with all-recycled post-consumer polyester, Atmosphere, a supple and wool-like Jacquard pattern, uses four varying weights of yarn, one in the warp and three in the weft, to create its textured surface of vertical and horizontal ribs.
