Here are some photos from the JIA Boutique hotel in Shanghai (jia means "home" in Mandarin).  It is the second to open in the JIA collection of residential-style boutique hotels by young Singaporean businesswoman Yenn Wong.  This old 1920's building with interiors by French designer Philippe Starck opened in 2007.

Washed oak flooring and fabric wall paneling with romantic Chinese embroidery motif creates JIA's signature 'homey' feel while quirky works by local artists add a touch of humor.
