Pollack announces their first collection for Tufenkian, the leading designer and supplier of contemporary handmade rugs. Eight patterns, adapted from fabric designs currently in our line, are part of the Tufenkian Designer's Reserve Collection. Woven of wool and silk, these Tibetan and Armenian rugs craft striking geometric patterns with cut and loop pile, as well as various pile heights, adding complexity and refinement to these designs. Each is available in several colorways.
The Pollack textiles that serve as inspiration are Box Step, Doodles, Dunand, Mod, Tiki, Tranquility, Zigzaggery and Zither.

Mark Pollack has been awarded the prestigious "Honorary Royal Designer for Industry" (HonRDI) by Great Britain's RSA, the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce. This organization, founded in 1754, "works to remove the barriers to social progress" by encouraging and supporting innovation and creativity throughout society. Its Fellowship is currently made up of an international group of 27,000 leaders from a wide range of professions.
The distinction 'Royal Designer for Industry' was established by the RSA in 1936 to encourage a high standard of industrial design and enhance the status of designers. It is awarded to people who have achieved sustained excellence in design for industry. Their work is diverse; ranging from fashion to engineering, theater to product design, graphics to environmental design, they all share a consciousness of quality and standard, coherence and precision. New members are elected annually to the Faculty and only 200 designers may hold the distinction RDI at any time. It is regarded as the highest honor to be obtained in the United Kingdom in the field of Industrial Design. Mark Pollack's honorary award is one of a limited number conferred by the RSA on distinguished designers who are not English citizens.
There are currently 114 RDIs and 48 HonRDIs spanning every area of design. The awards for 2007 honor an additional 6 British and 6 international designers. The awards will be presented at a dinner on November 29, 2007.
