Fashion Forward
The Pollack Studio collaborated with New York-based fashion designer Gary Graham, who imbued his ancient-world aesthetic into a curated collection of five statement textiles. All are united by Gary’s signature air of romance and drama. Gary looked to the beautifully distressed, even decaying, structures in and around Newport, Rhode Island—from Fort Adams, a colonial fort in Newport Harbor, to the Block Island Lighthouse and Clouds Hill Victorian Museum in Warwick—as inspiration for the weathered, antiqued look that gives these textiles their moody and dynamic sense of texture.
Gary Graham is a designer with the visionary eye of a fine artist and a passion for process and traditional craft. Inspired by a deep sense of history that goes beyond fashion, Graham references and reinterprets idiosyncratic elements from period influences, eclectic art and outsider cultures. Juxtaposition is key: tone and tactility, raw and refined, dark and light, innocence and seduction, fantasy and utility. Signature elements in his fashions—washed and dyed fabrics, intricate detailing, fluid silhouettes—contrast and coalesce to lend an ethereal air of romance and discreet drama. His loyal following includes well-known actresses and other major innovators in the arts: Meredith Monk, Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift, Kara Walker, Mary Steenburgen, Marisa Tomei, Gina Gershon, Parker Posey, Helena Bonham Carter, Jennifer Nettles and Karen O, among others. His designs have been featured in Vogue, Elle, Glamour, InStyle, New York Magazine, Interview Magazine and more. Currently, Gary can be seen on the second season of Amazon's Making The Cut.
